The mystery of Trenny Lynn Gibson’s disappearance from Great Smoky Mountains National Park continues

Was Trenny Lynn Gibson abducted? No answers have been found to this Great Smoky Mountains National Park cold case.

According to NPS,

Gibson was 16 years old when she went missing. White female, 5’03” tall, 115 pounds, brown eyes, brown hair. Last seen wearing a brown plaid jacket, a blue-and-white striped sweater, blue jeans, and blue Adidas shoes.

“Searchers used about a half-dozen dog teams with Bloodhounds and German Shepherds to look for Trenny. Three of the tracking dogs picked up her scent at the intersection with the Appalachian Trail. They followed it by Clingmans Dome Tower and some of the dogs last detected her scent along the roadside about a mile and a half from Newfound Gap but then the dogs stopped, the scent had disappeared, according to source.

Gibson was last seen hiking with a high school group from Knoxville, Tennessee. She disappeared as the group hiked back from Andrew’s Bald Trail to the Clingmans Dome parking area.
