Case Details
Since 1977, couple Jodi Zatchick and Gerald Duran were the only ones known to attempt hiking the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) during the winter in 1983. They started in the north, and traveled south towards Wrightwood, California to stock up on supplies.
The couple ended up getting lost, and traveled down the wrong canyon leading them into steeper terrain than what they had prepared for. As they descended down the canyon on an icy slope, the couple slipped, falling over one-hundred feet, and died.
On December 3, 1983, search and rescue located their bodies.
