Missing person, possibly in Carbonado area where his vehicle was found. Our detectives are asking for your help to try to locate a man who has been missing for over two weeks under unusual circumstances. On the morning of Wednesday January 13, 2021, Buckley Police officers attempted to perform a traffic stop on a silver Ford Escape that was seen traveling at a very high speed through the town of Buckley. The driver failed to stop and fled down several roads including State Route 165 through Burnett and the Carbonado area, and was last seen driving past the Fairfax Bridge when the officers terminated the pursuit. The Ford Escape was later found by our deputies over the side of a steep embankment approximately 5.5 miles up a gravel portion of State Route 165 near the Evans Creek ORV Park area. There were no signs of the driver and nothing was observed in or around the vehicle that would indicate that the driver had been injured. The involved vehicle was registered to 36 year old Austin Chase of the Waller area, who is believed to have been the driver and has been reported missing by his family. A search & rescue mission was conducted in the area where the vehicle was found which included ground searchers, K9 units, and 4x4s, but he was not located. Over the past two weeks none of Austin Chase’s family members have been able to contact him, there has been no activity on his cell phone and no financial transactions on his accounts. We have checked area hospitals but have not been able to locate him. Our detectives are very concerned for Austin’s safety and are hoping that someone has seen or heard from him. Austin Oniel Chase is a white male, 36 years old, 6’1”, 180 lbs., with shaved brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black or blue zip-up hoodie, light blue jeans, and a white t-shirt. If you have been in contact with him or have any information on his disappearance please call our detectives.
