Tom Opperman went missing on August 8, 1967. His last known location was at Merced Lake, heading out to hike Mount Clark. After hiking Mount Clark, Opperman intended to hike to Glacier Point and return to the valley on August 10, 1967.
During the search for Opperman, 16 marines were brought in to join the search, but Opperman was never found.
