About Missoula County Sheriff’s Department

The Sheriff of Missoula County is the chief law enforcement officer and is responsible for the enforcement of state and county laws and statutes. The Missoula County Sheriff also serves as coroner, investigating all unattended deaths or deaths that may be criminally caused.

The office provides speakers for civic groups and schools, and assists in programs such as fingerprinting and photographing children for identification purposes as a prevention against child abduction.

Record-keeping and offender registrations are an important role of our office. A Special Response Team is available for call-out 24 hours a day.

Auxiliary units with the Sheriff’s Office include Reserves, Search and Rescue, and Sheriff’s Cadets.
