Thomas Young disappeared on September 7, 1987 and was found deceased in early 1988. On the day of his disappearance, Young told a friend that he was going on vacation, and left Silver Plume, Colorado with his dog. Where Young planned on vacationing was not known - this was the last time he was seen alive.
On July of 1988, the remains of Thomas Young and his dog were found in Pendleton Mountain. Both Young and his dog had a bullet wound in their head, and Young's gun was found next to the bodies.
Authorities declared Young's death a suicide, but other's don't believe he would have shot his own dog. The fact that no ballistics testing were done to determine if the gun wounds came from his gun had led others to believe it may not have been a suicide.
