Raafat "Ralph" Nasser-Eddin from Los Angeles, California was reported missing on June 13, 2017. Nasser-Eddin was last seen near Hermit Camp on the Hermit Trail on June 11, 2017.
On December 20, 2017, participants of a private Colorado river trip were hiking up towards the Monument Creek drainage when they came across human remains. Investigating Rangers located evidence at the scene that indicated the human remains were most likely those of Nasser-Eddin.
The remains were located approximately 2.5 miles from his last known location, in an off-trail area of the Tonto Platform.
Grand Canyon National Park is working with the Coconino County Medical Examiner's Office to confirm the identify of the remains. No additional information is available at this time.
