According to Akron Beacon Journal,
Officials have identified the man found dead last week in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Sagamore Hills Township as a man wanted on a warrant for allegedly assaulting a Broadview Heights police officer last year. He had failed to appear for a Jan. 4 hearing in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
Michael R. Stout II, 31, a Cleveland resident, is the man whose body was found last Thursday afternoon, the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office said Monday.
Cause of death is still pending, including the completion of toxicology tests. Stout appears to have died from exposure, according to a preliminary determination from park rangers.
Rangers are looking into Stout's death. He was pronounced dead at the scene about 3:30 p.m. March 3. His body was found in a wooded area in the township's far northwestern corner, several hundred feet off of Valley View Road, south of Sagamore Road.
According to court records, Stout allegedly attacked a Broadview Heights police officer with a 3½-inch knife on Jan. 13, 2021. Stout was also armed with a handgun at the time of the incident.
He had been indicted on charges of felonious assault with firearms specifications, carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a firearm in a motor vehicle and resisting arrest, all felonies.
None connected.
