While Mr. Deshon was not found in the Tahoe National Forest, his approximate "last known location" was located inside Tahoe National Forest. As such, we are maintaining the link to Tahoe National Forest, but it should be noted that Mr. Deshon was found at an unidentified area close to his home inside his hometown.
PLACER COUNTY, Calif. (KTXL) — Placer County officials are searching for a missing man after finding his abandoned vehicle along a road east of Foresthill. Around midnight Thursday, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office says they were called about a driver whose vehicle was stuck at mile marker 19 on Mosquito Ridge Road.
Deputies found 69-year-old David Glenn Deshon’s vehicle in the area but he was nowhere to be found, according to the sheriff’s office. Near Deshon’s vehicle was a second set of tire tracks, which the sheriff’s office says could mean he was picked up by someone after getting stuck. The sheriff’s office says Deshon lives in Foresthill but he was not home when deputies got there. “We are just describing him as a missing person at this point,” explained Angela Musallam, a spokesperson with the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. FOX40 tried to get in touch with Deshon’s family.
His daughter declined to be interviewed but said the family is not receiving much information. She told FOX40 she tried to call her father’s phone but it went straight to voicemail. Musallam said the area where they found the car is in the mountains and very steep. Over the last 48 hours, it has received a significant amount of snow. “It actually required a snowplow to clear the roadways for the deputies in order for them to drive from the area of Deshon’s vehicle over to his residence,” Musallam explained. “So, there was no way, essentially, that they would drive around that immediate area without a snowplow.”
The sheriff’s office said they hope the investigation picks up soon. “Once the weather clears up and weather conditions improve, that we’ll deploy our air operations,” Musallam said. Deshon is 6 feet tall and 175 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information about his whereabouts should call the Placer County Sheriff’s Office at 530-889-7830.
