Christine Fuentes, 9, and her mother Yolanda Fuentes, 30, were last seen at Vernal Falls in Yosemite National Park. The two were enjoying an outing with several other relatives, taking photos near the ledge of the falls.
While the family were taking photos, a hat fell into the water and little Christine reached over to try and grab it. The strong current got a hold of Christine and pulled her into the water. Her mother immediately chased after Christine and also got swept by the current. Both Christine and Yolanda were swept over Vernal Falls.
About 2 months later, Yolanda's remains were found. Christine was never found, and she remains missing.
None connected.
