Alan Chow was last seen Saturday morning, February 17, 2018, at the entrance of the Hetch Hetchy Trail. He was planning on completing an overnight hiking trip along the popular areas of the trail. His coworker reported him missing on February 18 when he did not show up for work, however, he was not officially noticed as "missing" until February 20, 2018.
Chow was found alive, and in good condition, on February 23, 2018 above Wapama Falls near the Hetch Hetchy area.
At the time of Chow's disappearance, the weather conditions were not favorable as it had started to snow. Chow stated that he was able to survive the 6 days he was missing by staying warm in his tent and having enough food and water to last him until he was found.
